From hotel, to soup kitchen, to affordable homes, the Miriam has served Chicago’s uptown neighborhood for almost 100 years. Since 1991, the Miriam Apartments have provided affordable homes and onsite supportive services for individuals with extremely low incomes. We recently completed a complete rehabilitation of this historic building, ensuring that affordable housing continues to be available in the rapidly gentrifying neighborhood.

We invite you to join us for a virtual ribbon cutting for the reopening of the Miriam Apartments. We will virtually tour the recently rehabbed building, hear from a resident who calls the Miriam home, and recognize those who have contributed to maintaining a mission of mercy at 4707 N. Malden.

The Miriam was Affordable Housing Finance magazine’s 2020 Readers’ Choice Award winner for Preservation. The complete rehabilitation revitalized and enhanced the building that provides permanent supportive housing and services for 66 residents while retaining many of the original features that led to its designation on the National Register of Historic Places.
