volunteers like Desiree Hepworth exemplify the type of commitment that the United Nations is honoring today through International Volunteer Day. The United Nations celebrates International Volunteer Day every Dec. 5 to thank volunteers for their efforts and to increase public awareness about their contribution to society.
Volunteers like Desiree Hepworth make Mercy Housing’s efforts to build vibrant and healthy communities even more rewarding. Desiree has donated her time to help her aunt build her new home in Hansen, Idaho as a part of Mercy Housing Idaho’s Self-Help Housing program. The program serves more than 160 adults and 280 children and recently began work on the 100th home.
For her outstanding work in the community, Desiree recently received the Distinguished Student Award from KTVB and the United Dairymen of Idaho.
