Equity Residential Foundation fulfills $500,000 pledge to support Mercy Housing’s mission

Community Matters Newsletter – Fall 2012

EQREquity Residential Foundation recently completed a pledge of $500,000 to further Mercy Housing’s mission as part of a five-year partnership started in 2008. Since the time the pledge was made, Mercy Housing has been able to successfully develop and manage quality service-
enriched affordable housing serving tens of thousands of residents every day, thanks in part to the Equity Residential Foundation and Equity Residential volunteers.

Equity Residential employee volunteers have brightened the lives of Mercy Housing residents across the country over the last four years. In Denver, employees helped build a playground at a large property serving 168 low-income families. Equity Residential employees in Washington participated in a property improvement day that included everything from restriping the parking lot to trimming trees. Residents at a new property in Chicago received a warm welcome to their homes thanks to a group of Equity Residential employees who provided basic supplies in each unit. Last December when Equity Residential employees went door-to-door delivering holiday gifts to seniors in San Francisco and then fixing a holiday dinner for all the residents, one resident described it as, “the best Christmas at Mission Creek ever.” More events are planned over the coming year.

Equity Residential is an S&P 500 company focused on the acquisition, development and management of high-quality apartment properties in top U.S. growth markets. Equity Residential owns or has investments in more than 400 properties in 16 states and the District of Columbia.
