Jan 11Mercy Housing Lakefront President Mark Angelini Appointed to Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago’s Community Investment Advisory Council
CHICAGO, IL (January 15, 2018) – Mercy Housing Lakefront announced today that Mark Angelini, the organization’s President, has been appointed to the Community Investment Advisory Council (CIAC) of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (FHLBC) for a three-year term ending December 31, 2020. The CIAC consists of representatives from community and nonprofit organizations actively involved in providing or promoting affordable housing and/or community lending in Illinois or Wisconsin.
The CIAC meets quarterly with FHLBC Community Investment staff and representatives from the FHLBC’s Board of Directors to advise the FHLBC on ways in which it can better carry out its housing finance and community investment missions; staff also engages CIAC members throughout the year to leverage their expertise in specific topics.
Serving as the President of Mercy Housing Lakefront since 2014, Mr. Angelini has more than 30 years of experience in economic, community, and real estate development across the public, private and nonprofit sectors. During his tenure as President, Mercy Housing Lakefront has expanded rapidly through the construction of new communities and acquisition of existing properties, nearly doubling in size. Mr. Angelini now oversees a portfolio of 52 affordable housing properties across Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana which provide more than 8,000 people per year with the stable base necessary to improve their lives.
“The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago has a long track record of innovative efforts in support of communities throughout Illinois and Wisconsin via programs such as The Community First, Affordable Homes and DownPayment Plus, and I am excited to contribute to its future efforts. The demand for affordable housing far outpaces the available supply, and the Federal Home Loan Bank is uniquely positioned to help close the gap. It is an honor to have the opportunity to work with other members of the council to make this a more vibrant region.”
In addition to the CIAC, Mr. Angelini serves on the Lending Board of Cinnaire and recently completed a three-year term as a member of Fifth Third Bank’s Community Advisory Board. He is an active member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Metropolitan Planning Council (serving on MPC’s Resource Board), and the Urban Land Institute, where he served on the Board of its Chicago District Council from 2010-14.
