Jul 16St. Mary Tower, Our Newest Senior Community
On July 19, St. Mary Tower will be having its grand reopening event to celebrate the conclusion of 14 months of construction. This 13-story concrete building has 146 homes for seniors 62 years of age and over. Mercy Housing acquired the building from Dignity Health in 2016 and began construction that November. Improvements include a newly renovated front lobby, offices, and community room, energy-efficient retrofit windows and light fixtures, water-efficient plumbing fixtures and toilets, ADA upgrades and a new HVAC system that enables individual control of heating and cooling in each apartment.
A key to the ongoing success of St. Mary Tower is property manager Janaloo (Jana) who has been working in the building since June 2013, and who will continue to work at St. Mary Tower following the reopening. Cris, a maintenance technician, and Francisca, a housekeeper, joined the Mercy Housing team in 2016. They have proven to be a wonderful addition to the team while providing continuity for the residents during the transition.
After a short ceremony and refreshments, guests will be invited to tour the property. The incredible view from the rooftop is sure to be a highlight of the tour. The heliport on the roof is one of eight in Long Beach, and the only heliport in the Mercy Housing portfolio!
