Residents outside of Grace Apartments in Denver

Preserving the Future

While commercial and residential real estate prices continue to skyrocket in Denver and across the nation, Mercy Housing remains resolute in preserving affordable housing for today and for the future. With this in mind, Mercy Housing Mountain Plains is excited to announce some big changes at two family communities in Denver.

Grace Apartments

Clare Gardens and Grace Apartments are both beginning a multi-phase renovation project that will bring much anticipated building upgrades, as well as a full update of all interior finishes to individual apartment homes. The scope of work varies at each community, however, both properties are expected to receive new windows, roofs, heating and cooling systems, and general upgrades to the exterior accessibility and grounds. Interior finishes will include fresh paint, drywall, flooring repair and/or new flooring, and new cabinets. Each home will also be outfitted with brand new kitchen appliances.

These renovation projects are an investment in Mercy Housing’s mission and a commitment to the communities we serve.

Grace Apartments is comprised of two buildings and 53 apartments that feature two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes. Grace maintains a very diverse population of refugees and immigrants, primarily from southeast Asian countries like Bhutan, Nepal, and Burma. Residents have access to several different resources including an onsite computer lab, community room to hold Out-of-School Time programming for youth, an outdoor playground, and community garden.

Clare GardensClare Gardens is a 128-home community, that features three-and four-bedroom townhomes. The extensive grounds include 22 separate buildings, a children’s playground area, and a Recreation Center that features a gymnasium, indoor pool, and Kids’ Café. Clare Gardens also offers a resident resource center with a computer lab, where residents can receive tutoring services, educational programs, and many other personal enrichment activities.

Each property is unique and offers an abundance of resources and services to all residents that call Mercy Housing home. Resident Services Coordinators and Case Managers are on staff to provide support and advocacy that help link residents to the community services in the area.

Residents will remain onsite during the renovation process. Vacant apartments will be available for families to temporarily reside during the two to three months their home is being remodeled. To ensure a smooth transition, Mercy Housing has contracted with a professional relocation consultant to help in the entire process. The consultant will coordinate all moves with a professional mover, provide all moving supplies, and packing assistance (as needed) at no cost to residents.

While living through a renovation project is not an easy task, Mercy Housing residents are resilient, and we are so excited to unveil these fresh new spaces to them. Building upgrades will provide more energy efficient homes that help reduce monthly utility costs, increase overall living comfort, and provide a warm, modern aesthetic for residents to enjoy for years to come.

Both Clare Gardens and Grace Apartments are a community asset and are critical to their neighborhood’s vitality. Investing in these renovation projects demonstrates Mercy Housing’s commitment to these communities and to preserving affordable housing for today and the future.
