Dec 16Welcome Home to Cedar Crossing
This fall, guests gathered in the beautiful courtyard of Cedar Crossing to celebrate its grand opening. Fresh off the grand opening of Columbia Heights in Vancouver, WA less than a month earlier, this event marked a time for celebration for Mercy Housing Northwest.
Cedar Crossing is a joint development between Bellwether Housing and Mercy Housing Northwest in the Roosevelt neighborhood of Seattle. The transit-oriented development is steps away from the newly opened Sound Transit Roosevelt Light Rail Station and features 254 apartment homes, 91 of which are two- and three-bedroom homes.
When fully occupied, Cedar Crossing will be home to about 600 adults and children, making 30-60% of the area’s median income. The community features a four-classroom early learning center, ground-level retail space, playground, onsite resident services, and a large community room.
A special thank you to our project partners:
Sound Transit – Provided the land at a deeply reduced price.
Mary’s Place, Seattle Children’s, and Ronald McDonald House – Twenty apartments will be set aside for families at risk of homelessness and whose children have received, or continue to receive, care at Seattle Children’s.
Family Works – Will open a Family Resource Center near the courtyard.
El Centro de la Raza – Operating a multicultural, bilingual, affordable, onsite child-care center to serve up to 68 children.
The Roosevelt Neighborhood Association – Strongly advocated for an affordable housing project with large units for families in their neighborhood.
