Mercy Housing Southeast

Mercy Housing Southeast (MHSE) provides affordable homes to people with low incomes, including families, seniors, people who have experienced homelessness, and people with disabilities.

With 44 properties throughout Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and Tennessee, MHSE serves more than 5,000 people every day. MHSE supplements much of its housing with Resident Services, programs that help residents build stable lives.

Mercy Housing Southeast has developed or preserved 44 properties delivering over 3,028 affordable rental homes since 1996, and has also been recognized with many accolades in the housing industry, including:

  • Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award for Senior Housing
  • Urban Land Institute Development of Excellence Award in Civic/Institutional Development
  • Atlanta Business Chronicle Best in Atlanta Real Estate Award
  • Urban Land Institute Award for Excellence in Affordable and Workforce Housing
  • Georgia Department of Community Affairs’ Magnolia Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing
  • Housing Authority of DeKalb County’s Best Project Design/Innovation Award

Mercy Housing Southeast is creating stable, vibrant and healthy communities for low-income families and seniors across the southeast. Help People Like LaVonya

LaVonya had an 8-year-old son, volunteered at church, and was a naval reservist. She graduated from Columbia College and promptly found a job. In less than a year, she was laid off. That same year her mother passed away leaving LaVonya to look after her 12-year-old brother. Suddenly, she had two growing boys to raise and was out of a job. She needed a home for the three of them, but student debt prevented her from getting a loan to buy a home while trying to find a new job, all at once. She felt trapped.
