Mercy Housing Southeast Housing Developments
Mercy Housing Southeast has developed or preserved 46 properties delivering over 3,350 affordable rental homes since 1996. Over two-thirds of our portfolio is in Georgia, with 1,689 homes in the Atlanta metro area and 803 homes in Savannah.
From its beginnings, MHSE has been deeply committed to engaging in holistic revitalization that supports strategies to preserve and create new affordable housing. Our proven expertise to transform communities is evident in the work we have done in Savannah and Atlanta.
Here is a look at two of our current housing developments:
Savannah Gardens
A 439 unit affordable housing community, the five-phase Savannah Gardens project that includes both family and senior apartments, is the redevelopment of Strathmore Estates, a 44-acre site with 380 units of substandard rental housing, now credited with turning a crime infested eyesore into a safe, attractive and vibrant neighborhood.
Savannah Gardens is celebrating it’s ten-year anniversary this year. From run-down row houses to a vibrant, thriving community, Savannah Gardens has transformed the entire neighborhood. Watch below:
Transforming Savannah GardensReynoldstown Senior Residences
A 70-unit affordable senior housing community in Atlanta’s historic Reynoldstown district, was part of a multi-faceted strategy to create housing for a mix of incomes around the Atlanta Beltline, a formerly blighted stretch of neighborhoods where property values are now skyrocketing. Reynoldstown Senior Residences won the prestigious 2017 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award for Outstanding Senior Housing Development – a national honor awarded by the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition.
